Afghan Hound / Ottawa Afghan Hound Rescue

The Afghan Hound is like the runway model of the dog world; tall and leggy with beautiful flowing hair that would put anyone to shame. I got to meet my first afghan hound one blistery afternoon back in November and it is easy to see why people who own them have fallen hopelessly in love with them. They are almost cat like in personality being aloof at first but they quickly warm up to you, but not in the way a happy go lucky lab does, they would prefer to just stand beside you as you pet them. They are also amazing to photograph; These dogs are a photographers dream model! They will walk to the middle of a field finding the perfect spot and then they will stand there with the wind blowing through their hair as they stare off into the distance, only moving to adjust their head to get you a better profile shot. Did I mention they are amazing to photograph? The darker haired dog is Caleb and the blond one is his father Leo, would you believe they were both rescued from the Paws R Us puppy mill? It’s amazing what good care and TLC will do.

Our Christmas shoot at Global Pet Foods was a big success! We raised a ton of money for local rescues and everyone enjoyed themselves. I have plenty of shoots to post here in the new year but for now I’m scrambling to get the rest of my Christmas plans done. 4 more days left, GAH! Where does the time go? I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and I hope Santa is good to every one of you!

Howloween Winners

I think it’s finally time to put the winning photos from the Howloween contest at Global Pet Foods. First place went to Gunner the Duck Toller, Gunner won an awesome Al Fresco water fountain to drink out of, valued at $130! Cooper the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog was second and Bubba the black lab mix was a close third, the both got some wonderful gift baskets. Best of all we raised a ton of money for Birch Haven Dog Rescue. Congrats guys! If you forgot to vote or missed out, you can still see all the photos from the event HERE.

The White Stallion / Arabian Stallions in Ottawa

Here’s some more fairy-tale like stuff for you guys today. I had the pleasure of photographing Mystic Meadows new Arabian stallion named Khonversation Piece (Conman for short). This guy is not only pretty to look at, he’s actually the ONLY dominant white Arabian registered in Canada, and there are only a handful of horses with this color worldwide. These photos will hopefully be part of a new series I am working on, more to come on that down the road. Once again and as with all my photos, if you click on the picture it will show you a better quality image. Enjoy!

Howl-oween Photo Shoot!

Come one come all for a spooktacular time this Sunday the 30th at Global Pet Foods in Kanata on Eagleson Rd. I will be doing $10 photos, half of the proceeds will be going to Birch Haven Rescue and Rehabilitation, a dog and horse rescue! And what’s even better? After all the photos are done they will be uploaded to Global Pet Foods Facebook page and the photo with the most ‘likes’ will win a gift basket full of goodies worth approx. $200!!

Also on site will be nail trims, but only by appointment! To make an appointment call 613-599-0660 to book your spot. Nails are also $10 with half of the proceeds going to Birch Haven as well!

For photos, you will receive a digital copy of your photo via email to share with your friends and family if you wish.

So come on out and have some fun, meet other dogs, show off your costumes and help out for a great cause! Hope to see you there!

A Wedding Gift / Ottawa Horse Photographer

Meet Kirby! – Ottawa Cat Photography

Meet Kirby. You might recognize her from the kitten shoot I posted back when she was only 4 weeks old. Well she’s older now and a whole lot cuter. Kirby enjoys snuggling and watching tv, and yes, she’s named after the pink ball from Nintendo games, just google it and you’ll know what I mean. Enjoy!

Celtic Blaze / Ottawa Band Photographer

I always have so much fun doing photo shoots with people in the entertainment industry, especially bands. Maybe it’s because they’re used to looking pretty on stage performing or maybe you just have to love the spotlight if you’re in the music industry, either way, these guys were GREAT to shoot! I think I only had to pose them once, which is great cause I hate posing people myself (there, I said it!). People always get so stiff when you tell them how to shape their bodies.

Anyways, this fun group is called Celtic Blaze and is led by Stephanie Cadman (www.stephaniecadman.com). Check out her website for more info. Even if you don’t normally listen to celtic music, fiddles or tap-dancing you should still check out her videos, they are pretty amazing. Stephanie travels all around the world to do performances but was born here in Ottawa!
